The 5 Top Tips for wearing High Heels

Although we are a high heel loving nation we should try to think about how we choose our high heels and what comes with it (blisters, nail trauma, calluses, foot and back pain – phew!), but that aside you should be able to push your own thumb at the top part of the shoe without feeling your big toe.

  1. Use your high heels on special occasions so that we limit them to events where we really want to glam up not just to pop out to the shops for instance.
  2. Ideally keep heels lower than 4cm where possible and the thicker the heel the broader the circumference so better for your balance.
  3. Taking smaller steps will reduce any possible ankle injuries and the potential for tripping up!
  4. Making sure your high heels fit you properly and are not too small is key.
  5. High heels can shorten your calf muscles be sure to take a thorough stretch.  Anything from 3-5 repetitions, holding each stretch for up to 20-30 seconds alternating the left and right calf.
